According to notes from Jim Biden’s congressional testimony, Hunter Biden told his uncle he was in business with a “protege of President Xi” of China, referring to Ye Jianming of CEFC China Energy.

Jim affirmed this to Congress but walked it back as a “poor choice of words.”

He denied Joe Biden attended a meeting with him, Hunter, and Tony Bobulinski about the CEFC deal, contrary to Hunter’s later corroboration.

“I could have been there just with Tony Bobulinski. I could have been there with Hunter as well. But my brother was never there,” Jim said.

Texts show Jim arranged to meet Bobulinski.

“My uncle and myself” were “in the lobby bar with Mr. Bobulinski having coffee” when “my dad went and shook hands with Tony,” Hunter said.

“Please thank Joe for his time, was great to talk,” Bobulinski had wrote.

Jim testified he helped Ye’s associate with visas and housing in New York but said Joe was unaware of Hunter’s China deals.

“I was doing it out of personal kindness to — to familiarize him and his family with the city,” Jim said.

Hunter Biden texted that his “uncle will be here with his BROTHER who would like to say hello to the chairman.”

He explained large payments to Joe as loan repayments but provided no documentation.

“We haven’t seen the evidence of you receiving that money. Do you have any documentation surrounding receipt of that money, whether it’s a bank deposit, bank transfer, wire, anything of that nature?” one congressman questioned.

“Congressman, I think we received those documents at the same time you received those documents from the banks,” Jim Biden’s attorney said.

“It’s my understanding there’s nothing in the bank records that show the receipt of the money,” the congressman said.

“I can’t point to it at the moment, but I don’t think that that’s correct,” the attorney said.

“That is ridiculous on its face. No,” Jim Biden said of the claim.

“This would be a perfect platform to expose my brother’s team to your protocol,” Jim Biden wrote in an email.

“Does this — quoting an email, does this change any of your other answers about never involving –” House Republicans asked.

“No,” Jim said.

While denying wrongdoing, his comments contradict other evidence and raise questions about the Biden family’s foreign business dealings and their consistency in recounting related events.
