A National Guard helicopter carrying three soldiers and a Border Patrol agent crashed near the Texas-Mexico border, killing at least three people on board.
The helicopter went down in La Grulla, Texas near the Rio Grande River.
Starr County Judge Eloy Vera said the fourth person was critically injured.
Law enforcement sources stated the three National Guard soldiers were working on federal orders for the Department of Homeland Security.
The helicopter was identified as a New York National Guard “Lakota.”
The crash occurred near the border where helicopters conduct patrol missions, including one in January where a Texas DPS helicopter experienced power loss and was damaged, injuring the co-pilot.
