Mark Dodson, a voice actor known for playing Salacious B. Crumb in Star Wars, has died at age 64.

Dodson suffered a heart attack while attending a horror convention in Indiana.

He voiced numerous creatures in films like Gremlins and Day of the Dead.

Dodson got his big break playing the character Salacious Crumb in Return of the Jedi in 1983.

The character was always seen at the feet of Jabba the Hutt.

Dodson also voiced the lead character Mogwai in the Gremlins franchise.

He considered his role in Star Wars as the highlight of his career, saying he was humbled to be part of something that would live forever.

Dodson got his start in Hollywood working on Lucasfilm toys and sets before finding success in voice acting.

He credited George Lucas for giving him the role of a lifetime and launching his voiceover career.

Dodson said, “I look back at it as some of the best times of my life, with a lot of affection. It was my start doing voiceovers. I met great people, worked with George Lucas, I ended up being a part of something I think is going to live forever and I’m humbled by it. I can’t believe I’m a part of it.”

He added, “Quite honestly, if it wasn’t for Star Wars, Ben Burtt and George Lucas I’d be another voiceover guy nobody really hears of.”
