Senator Tim Scott said President Biden should give an “apology tour” in his State of the Union address, apologizing for policies like “Bidenomics” hurting the economy, rising crime, and open borders.
Scott, who is speculated to be a potential running mate for Donald Trump in 2024, made the comments in an interview on CNBC.
“I hope … President Biden starts tonight is an apology tour,” Scott said. “Apologizing for ‘Bidenomics,’ it has devastated average Americans. Apologizing for the chaos and the crime in our streets. Apologizing for the open border that has led to deaths untold throughout this country.”
“He ran, and he was OK,” Trump said. “He’s a respected guy. But he ran, and he did fine, and then when he got out, he endorsed me, and he’s a surrogate. He’s the greatest surrogate I’ve ever seen.”
While saying he has no insider information, Scott stated Trump should pick a vice president who prioritizes border security, the economy, and putting Americans first over politics.
“I certainly hope he picks a vice president who will be strong on our border, good for our economy, who understands the inner workings of our government, and frankly, who puts the American people above American politics,” Scott said.
Scott posted about Biden needing to apologize for these issues in his response to the State of the Union address.
“Tonight, at his State of the Union address, President Biden should apologize for Bidenomics, for the crime in our streets, and for the wide open border,” Scott wrote on X.
