Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene broke House rules by wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat on the House floor before President Biden’s State of Union address.

House rules prohibit using official spaces like the House floor for campaigning. Greene tried to directly confront Biden about “Laken Riley,” a woman killed by an undocumented immigrant, and later provoked Biden into mentioning her case during his speech.

“Accordingly, as a general rule, they may not be used for the conduct of campaign or political activities,” the House rules state.

While Greene accomplished what she wanted, she faces an ethics complaint for her hat as it constitutes campaign insignia in the House.

Greene was “in direct violation of the rules of the House by wearing campaign insignia on the House floor,” Rep. Jamie Raskin said.

She defended her actions by claiming Biden was in violation of his border security duties.
