The South Carolina legislature passed a bill to allow constitutional carry of handguns without a permit.

Known as constitutional carry, the legislation will allow South Carolinians to openly or concealed carry a handgun without a permit.

After passing the state House and Senate, the bill will be signed into law by Governor Henry McMaster in a private ceremony on Thursday.

Upon being signed, South Carolina will become the 29th state to allow constitutional carry, joining others like Alabama, Alaska, Arizona and more.

The new law will take effect immediately upon being signed.
