New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman predicted a long and “pretty brutal” general election ahead of the 2024 election as Donald Trump secures the GOP nomination.
Trump faces a criminal trial in his hush-money case later this month, with three other indictments pending.
“It’s going to be a very long general election,” Haberman said.
“I think it’s going to be a pretty brutal eight months,” she added.
Haberman expressed astonishment at potential future events, with concerns over campaign cash and Trump’s interest in debating President Joe Biden highlighted.
“That may be the only trial he faces this year. He has three other indictments in three other places but that alone is unprecedented,” she added.
“It is almost unfathomable to me what else could happen this year, but even the next two months are going to be shocking,” she said.
