Top House Republicans are demanding information from former CIA Chief Operating Officer Andrew Makridis about the agency’s potential role in casting Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation.
A 2020 Politico article citing ex-intelligence officials was used by the media and President Biden to push the disinformation narrative.
The GOP obtained CIA documents showing the Prepublication Review Board raised a draft statement on the laptop to Makridis, unusual for the number 3 official.
As Makridis was CIA COO from 2018-2022, House Intelligence and Judiciary Committee Chairs Jim Jordan and Michael Turner believe he has critical insight into the agency’s involvement.
They have requested Makridis promptly provide testimony in a transcribed interview to aid their oversight on this matter.
Republicans and polls indicate accurate laptop reporting could have altered the 2020 election outcome.
