MSNBC’s Manhattan headquarters was forced to close several studios, including its main election coverage studio, after a suspected bed bug was spotted.
A memo obtained by The Post revealed an unidentified insect was seen in studio 3A, home to Rachel Maddow’s show and special election coverage, prompting the closure of other third floor studios as a precaution.
“They are scrambling,” an NBC source stated. “They’ve already been borrowing an unused local studio for some shows in recent weeks. So studio space is tight.”
An exterminator was brought in to treat the affected areas while a canine detection team ensured the remediation was complete.
This caused some disruption to operations as space is tight, though the network confirmed the studio reopened after inspection and anchors returned to broadcast Super Tuesday coverage from the main studio as usual.
“An environmental K-9 detection team will ensure the remediation efforts were complete and will take an extra pass, through extended areas of newsrooms [on the third floor],” the memo read.
