Rep. Lauren Boebert revealed she asked God for guidance when deciding to switch from representing Colorado’s 3rd congressional district to its more conservative 4th district.
She said God told her to press on with the decision despite knowing the attacks she would face.
Boebert announced the change in December, saying prayer and conversations convinced her it was the best way to continue fighting for Colorado.
“I’m not dumb. I knew all the attacks that would come my way,” Boebert said.
“But I talked to God, I asked, ‘How do I address this? Will this be perceived that I’m not fighting?’ And God said, ‘Do you have more faith in your ability to fight or my ability to open a door?'” Boebert said.
“I did not arrive at this decision easily. A lot of prayer, a lot of tough conversations, and a lot of perspective convinced me that this is the best way I can continue to fight for Colorado,” Boebert said.
However, she faces an uphill battle, coming in 5th in a January GOP straw poll in the new district.
Her reelection has also been overshadowed by her family’s legal troubles, including a restraining order against her ex-husband and her son being detained over vehicle and property crimes.
Boebert said her son “should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen.”
