Hunter Biden is facing a lawsuit threat for not returning $1 million paid for legal services not rendered by CEFC China Energy Co.
The situation raises concerns about Hunter’s legal representation of a foreign entity and his failure to register as a foreign agent.
“Patrick says he paid him, and that Hunter never did anything for him,” a friend of CEFC executive Patrick Ho’s said, “and that according to the contract, the money should be reimbursed.”
Despite public opinion leaning towards Hunter violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), he was not charged for it.
Ho demanded the money back, claiming Hunter did not fulfill his obligations.
Hunter admitted receiving the payment during a failed plea deal.
“My own law firm” got a $1 million “payment for legal fees for Patrick Ho,” Hunter said previously.
Suspicious wire transfers and payments involving Hunter and his family members have been reported, raising further questions about their dealings with CEFC.
