House Republicans, led by Jim Jordan, sent a letter to Google requesting information about any involvement by US government agencies in developing Google’s AI chatbot Gemini, citing concerns the administration may have inappropriately influenced the chatbot to advance a partisan agenda.
The letter follows controversy over Gemini seeming to deliberately omit white people from historical images and discussions, reflecting the politically “woke” views of its lead developer.
“It says don’t write anything racist or sexist, but then you start affecting the truth. George Washington was not a black guy. So it’s really big danger, manipulating reality,” Genie AI founder Imgesu Cetin said.
