College basketball player Caitlin Clark of Iowa broke the NCAA’s all-time scoring record of 3,667 points in a game against Ohio State on Sunday.

With two free throws, Clark surpassed the record held by “Pistol Pete” Maravich since 1970.

“History is made! Congrats to all-time leading scorer [Caitlin Clark],” Sen. Joni Ernst wrote on X.

“Caitlin Clark cements herself as the gr8est college bball player EVER as she breaks the all time scoring record The pride of Iowa & leader of a gr8 Hawkeye wbb TEAM,” Sen. Chuck Grassley wrote. “Congrats to Clark The GOAT.”

Clark, a senior guard and Iowa native, received praise for her historic accomplishment.

While Maravich played before freshman eligibility and with a two-point shot, Clark has benefited from playing with a three-point line.

She previously broke the record for most points in women’s college basketball.

Clark has announced entering the WNBA draft after leading the Hawkeyes, who lost in last year’s championship and will play in this year’s NCAA women’s tournament.
