The Church of England has faced backlash over a job posting for an anti-racism officer tasked with “deconstructing whiteness.”

The £36,000 per year role in the West Midlands would identify internal and external resistance to addressing anti-racism and help challenge institutional racism.

Critics argue the posting implies something is wrong with white people and question why whiteness needs deconstructing.

Reclaim Party leader Laurence Fox said, “Why does ‘Whiteness’ need ‘deconstructing?’ Is there something wrong with white people? Doesn’t the bible say that we are all made in the image of God?”

“Why are the Church of England in league with the other bloke? The one with the horns,” she continued.

The Church has taken a leftward turn under Archbishop Justin Welby on issues like gender, migration and climate.

It has become more vocal on racial issues following Black Lives Matter protests, though Welby has personally apologized for his privilege as a white person without vacating his powerful position for an ethnic minority clergyman.
