Two drug dealers received lengthy prison sentences for selling fentanyl-laced cocaine that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old UNC student from Charlotte.
Cye Frasier was sentenced to 29 years and Carlisa Allen received 28 years for their roles in distributing the tainted drugs.
Prosecutors said the cocaine they sold to Gracie Burton and others contained fentanyl.
Burton died after using the cocaine in March 2021 while home from college.
The drugs were also linked to another overdose death.
A Duke student received a shorter 3-month sentence for facilitating the drug deal.
State prosecutors continue to review whether additional charges are warranted at the local level.
