A Virginia school board member, Miles Adkins, was arrested for his involvement in the January 6th Capitol insurrection.
The FBI affidavit details messages and photos Adkins sent boasting about drinking Fireball whiskey and Coors Light inside the Capitol building.
“I drank fireball and coors lite in the capitol,” Adkins wrote.
Video evidence also showed him helping people enter through a broken window and dancing around inside.
He faces four misdemeanor charges.
“I do believe we have that First Amendment right to protest and you see that other folks have been able to do it. The hammer hasn’t come down on them like it has on the Jan. 6 folks,” Adkins said.
Adkins had previously been arrested for alleged DUI and faced calls to resign.
The school district acknowledged the allegations but said it would focus on its educational mission.
“However, Frederick County Public Schools remains committed to our primary goal, which is to foster the growth and well-being of our students. We will continue to focus on moving forward with our goals and mission,” the spokesperson said.
Adkins is one of over 1,300 charged for their role in the Capitol riots.
