According to the Ukrainian military, they shot down three more Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers on February 29th, adding to recent successes against Russian aircraft.
The Army chief said two bombers were destroyed over Avdiivka and Mariupol, eastern Ukrainian cities now under Russian control.
“After successful combat operations against an enemy aircraft in the night on Feb. 29, two more Russian aircraft were destroyed: Su-34 fighter-bombers in the Avdiivka and Mariupol sectors,” Army chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said.
Ukraine has received advanced Western air defense systems improving its ability to threaten Russian aviation near front lines, though it has suffered setbacks on the ground in the east.
Kyiv accuses Moscow of using Su-34s to hit civilian targets, especially in the southern Kherson region as well as Ukrainian front lines, while Russia denies deliberately targeting civilians.
