Renowned Hollywood director John Sayles recently visited the U.S.-Mexico border and publicly proclaimed that he urinated on the border wall in protest of former President Trump’s policies.
Sayles directed the 1996 film “Lone Star” about border tensions and said in a new interview that little progress has been made since.
He criticized the border wall as an expensive and ineffective solution, saying it was like an art installation that cost billions.
Sayles said, “I don’t think we’ve made any progress on border issues since the movie was made. Back then, it didn’t have the same tension.”
He suggested, “The border patrol would just say ‘no me hagas correr’ to illegal immigrants – don’t make me run – and deport them.”
Sayles added, “I don’t think a wall is the answer: it’s like a Christo installation that has cost billions of dollars.”
Sayles declared, “I recently visited it with a friend and we urinated on it.”
To emphasize his opposition, Sayles stated that during a recent border visit with a friend, they urinated on the wall.
However, U.S. border authorities reported over 7 million southwest land border encounters since President Biden took office, constituting the population of many U.S. states, underscoring the large numbers of migrants attempting to cross.
Critics argue Biden administration policies have directly contributed to the unprecedented surge in illegal immigration.
Eric Ruark, Director of immigration restriction advocacy group Research for Numbers USA, said, “This unprecedented surge in illegal immigration isn’t an accident. It is the result of deliberate policy choices by the Biden administration.”
