Former President Donald Trump commented that if re-elected, he would not protect Britain’s Prince Harry over questions about whether Harry lied on his U.S. visa application by not disclosing past drug use.
Trump said, “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me.”
The former president added, “I think they [the Biden administration] have been too gracious to him after what he has done.”
Harry recently admitted in his memoir to using cocaine, cannabis, and magic mushrooms prior to relocating to America with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020.
Conservative groups are challenging the Biden administration’s refusal to unseal Harry’s visa records, arguing the public deserves to know if immigration laws were fairly enforced.
While the White House claims Harry may have exaggerated drug use to sell books rather than lie, critics argue the administration is protecting Harry and covering up any violations.
Nile Gardiner, director of the Margaret Thatcher Centre for Freedom at the Heritage Foundation said, “There is a clear public interest in knowing whether or not the Department of Homeland Security is enforcing the law fairly – without fear or favour—or is granting preferential treatment to celebrities.”
Gardiner said the documents must be unsealed to “ensure full transparency and accountability from the United States Department of Homeland Security and its agencies.”
Trump said the Biden administration has been too gracious to Harry after his betrayal of the Queen, implying as president he would not shield Harry from accountability.
The legal challenges aim to increase transparency around Harry’s immigration process.
