President Joe Biden expressed hope for a ceasefire in Gaza by Monday during an ice cream break with Seth Meyers.

He mentioned being close to an agreement for a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

“Late Night” host Seth Meyers said, “And how about a sugar cone?”

“I was worried you were going to be that guy who asks for all the samples,” teased Meyers.

Biden, while enjoying mint chocolate chip ice cream, joked with Meyers and offered to buy ice cream for others.

“The last of the big spenders,” said Biden.

“It’s not a bribe,” he joked.

He also discussed his planned trip to the southern border and the possibility of a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict by the end of the weekend.

“Can you give us a sense of when you think a ceasefire will start?” asked a reporter.

“Well, I hope by the end of the weekend,” said Biden.

“At least my — my National Security Advisor tells me that we’re close. We’re close, we’re not done yet. My hope is by next Monday we’ll have a ceasefire,” emphasized the President.
