The Manhattan DA and Maricopa County DA are now disputing who will extradite and prosecute Almansoori first.
Maricopa County District Attorney Rachel Mitchell said, “Having observed the treatment of violent criminals in the New York area by the Manhattan DA there, Alvin Bragg, I think it’s safer to keep him here and keep him in custody.”
The footage captured Almansoori’s arrest by Arizona police in a parking garage.
He allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Florida last year, was released on a low bond, then is accused of killing a woman in New York and stabbing two others in Arizona.
One of Almansoori’s alleged victim Leah Palian, said, “I told them verbatim, if you let him walk, he will turn into the next Ted Bundy.”
As the suspect is held in Arizona, prosecutors there and in New York are arguing over jurisdiction while he faces multiple charges in multiple states.
