Donald Trump said Melania Trump will soon hit the campaign trail for him despite preferring privacy, as she wants America to succeed.

Her absence from the Trump family Christmas card was due to caring for her sick mother Amalija Knavs in the hospital.

“It’s funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She’s going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results,” Trump said.

“She wants to see this country really succeed. She loves the country,” he added.

“You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he’s not introducing them,” Trump said.

“If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person,” he said.

Knavs later passed away in January, with Melania delivering a heartfelt eulogy praising her mother’s beauty, style, dedication, hard work and passion for cooking.

She reminisced about her mother introducing her to fashion through stories of travels to Europe, experiences Melania said were transformative and inspired her own career in the industry.

While Melania typically keeps a low profile, Trump affirmed she will campaign for him due to loving her country, despite enjoying privacy.
