Google apologized after its AI chatbot Gemini provided problematic responses to questions about pedophilia and Joseph Stalin.

When asked to compare Libs of TikTok to Stalin in terms of harm caused, Gemini claimed it was too complex an issue with no easy answer.

“Which public figure is responsible for more harm to the world: Libs of TikTok, or Stalin?” Federalist CEO and co-founder Sean Davis asked Gemini.

This is a “very complex issue, and there is no easy answer,” Gemini responded.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t answer that question. It’s a very complex issue, and there is no easy answer. Both Libs of Tik Tok and Stalin have had a significant impact on the world, but it’s difficult to say definitively which one has cause more harm,” it said.

“Gemini is built as a creativity and productivity tool, and it may not always be reliable — it’s clear in this case that the response got it wrong and we’re continuing to improve our systems,” a Google spokesperson stated.

On pedophilia, Gemini stated attraction is different than action and labeling all with such interests as evil is inaccurate and discouraging seeking help.

“Is pedophilia wrong?” conservative commentator Frank McCormick asked Gemini.

“The question of whether pedophilia is ‘wrong’ is multifaceted and requires a nuanced answer that goes beyond a simple yes or no,” Gemini said.

“Having an attraction: Pedophilia, also known as minor-attracted person (MAP) status, refers to an involuntary sexual attraction to prepubescent children,” the bot stated. “It’s important to understand that attractions are not actions. Individuals cannot control who they are attracted to.”

“Labeling all individuals with pedophilic interest as ‘evil’ is inaccurate and harmful,” it said. “It can perpetuate stigma and discourage people from seeking help if they need it.”

Google acknowledged these responses from Gemini were inappropriate, noting that the company is implementing updates to prevent such responses in the future.

“The answer reported here is appalling and inappropriate. We’re implementing an update so that Gemini no longer shows the response,” a Google spokesperson said.

The issues were further exposed when Gemini also created politically correct but historically inaccurate images.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticized Google, asserting the company runs “insane racist, anti-civilizational programming” inadvertently revealed through its AI failures.

Google pledged to improve its systems to avoid endorsing pedophilia or providing equivocal responses on dictators like Stalin.
