The murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley while jogging, allegedly by illegal alien Jose Antonio Ibarra, highlighted the dangers female runners face according to a report from the Associated Press.
Ibarra, from Venezuela, was charged with kidnapping and murdering Riley after her body was found covered in injuries near the University of Georgia campus.
The report drew parallels to the 2018 killing of Mollie Tibbetts, noting both were solo female athletes murdered while jogging.

Crime statistics show such attacks are rare but underscore women’s heightened vigilance when exercising.
A survey found 92% of women felt safety concerns and over a third reported harassment.
Ibarra first arrived at the southern border in September 2022 and was released into the US under Biden’s parole policies rather than being detained.
He was previously arrested in New York for injuring a child but freed under sanctuary laws.
Ibarra remains jailed without bail over Riley’s murder.
