Donald Trump has faced a string of political and legal losses since his surprise 2016 election victory.

This includes Democrats taking control of the House in 2018 due to voter backlash against Trump, Trump losing his 2020 reelection bid, Democrats winning both Georgia Senate seats in 2021 runoffs, most of Trump’s endorsed candidates losing competitive 2022 midterm races, and his real estate company being convicted and fined for tax fraud in New York in 2022.

While Trump remains popular with the GOP base and leads Biden in some polls, his track record since leaving office has established him more as a serial loser rather than the rule-breaking winner of his early years in politics.

“Exit polls showed that Trump’s involvement hurt Republicans. The GOP’s tiny majority set the stage for the defenestration of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy last October — and the subsequent paralysis that Joe Biden is now exploiting in his reelection campaign,” one report noted.

His legal troubles also seem poised to continue with numerous criminal charges pending.

“In December 2022, a New York jury convicted Trump’s real-estate company on 17 charges of tax fraud and other crimes. That’s the same case in which former CFO Allen Weisselberg pled guilty to tax crimes. A judge fined the company $1.6 million, the maximum allowed,” the report added.
