Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley delivered a speech indicating she would continue her presidential campaign despite Donald Trump’s victory in the South Carolina Republican primary.
Haley said she was worried about the country’s direction under Biden and that America could come apart if the wrong choices are made, implying she would stay in the race.
“What I saw was South Carolina’s frustration with our country’s direction,” Haley said.
“I couldn’t be more worried about America,” she added.
“America will come apart if we make the wrong choices,” she said.
While acknowledging huge numbers of primary voters want an alternative to Trump, Haley stressed the need to defeat Biden in November and said she remains committed to running for president as a woman of her word who will keep fighting for all of America.
“We need to beat Joe Biden in November,” she said.
“There are huge numbers of voters in our Republican primaries that want an alternative,” Haley said.
“I said earlier this week that no matter what happens in South Carolina I would continue to run for president. I’m a woman of my word.”
Haley added, “And so I will keep fighting for them and for you — all of America.”
