King Charles III discussed his recent cancer diagnosis with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at Buckingham Palace, expressing gratitude for the support he has received.
Sunak said to the King, “Wonderful to see you looking so well.”
“It’s all done by mirrors,” replied King Charles.
“We’re all behind you, the country is behind you,” Sunak encouraged.
Charles said, “I’ve had so many wonderful messages and cards which reduce me to tears most of the time.”
He continued, “I hear that there’s been a lot more attention and interest on those main, wonderful cancer charities, many of which I’ve been patron for years.”
Sunak said, “And they do incredible work up and down the country.”
“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement,” wrote the King on social media.
The palace confirmed his ongoing treatment and a separate health concern.
The King postponed public duties for treatment.
Prince Harry visited his father after the diagnosis was disclosed.
Kate Middleton also underwent abdominal surgery and is recovering, delaying her return to public duties until Easter.
