Amazon to Be Added to the Dow, Replacing Walgreens

Amazon is set to join the Dow Jones Industrial Average, replacing Walgreens Boots Alliance due to Walmart’s stock split.

This change reflects the evolving American economy and will increase consumer retail exposure in the index.

“Reflecting the evolving nature of the American economy, this change will increase consumer retail exposure as well as other business areas in the DJIA,” S&P Dow Jones Indices said.

Uber will also be added to the Dow Jones Transportation Average to provide exposure to the ride-sharing industry.
