A young girl, around 7 years old, tragically died after a sand hole she was digging with her brother collapsed on them at a South Florida beach.
Emergency crews responded to find the boy buried up to his chest in the sand, while the girl was completely buried underneath him.
Despite rescue efforts, the girl stopped breathing and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The boy was hospitalized in stable condition.
The incident occurred in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Broward County, with bystanders and emergency responders working to dig the children out of the collapsed hole.
The identities of the children have not been disclosed, and it is unclear if an adult was supervising them during the digging.
