Senator Lindsey Graham has been placed on Russia’s list of “extremists and terrorists” after calling for Russia to be designated a state sponsor of terrorism.
Graham responded jokingly that he was calling their bid and raising them to designation under U.S. law.
“There goes all my rubles!” joked Sen. Graham.

“I call your ‘terrorists and extremists’ bid and raise you ‘State Sponsor of Terrorism under U.S. law.’ Believe it or not, 2024 is going to be a bad year for Putin’s Russia,” he continued.
He advocated for increased aid and weapons for Ukraine and sanctions on Russia.
Adding, “More aid to Ukraine. More high-end weapons that can reach out and touch the Russian occupiers, Designation of Russia as a State Sponsor of Terrorism, and Expansion of NATO.”
Sen. Graham said, “I just got off the phone with two Democratic senators. Let’s make Russia a state sponsor of terrorism under U.S. law. Let’s make them pay a price for killing [Navalny].”
“It would allow the [Navalny] family to go to U.S. court and sue Putin’s Russia for killing of their loved one. A state sponsored terrorism designation is a game changer. It would allow more sanctions, it would open up the American courtroom,” explained Graham.
Graham had previously said imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny was “murdered” by Putin and pushed for consequences, discussing with Democrats designating Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism to allow lawsuits and more sanctions.
While Graham signaled legislation this week, the White House said new sanctions would be unveiled on Friday in response to Navalny’s death and the war in Ukraine.
Graham offered, “I will submit to jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court if you do.”
“Come and make your best case. See you in The Hague!” he exclaimed.
Russia had issued an arrest warrant for Graham last year over an edited video, but he boasted of standing with Ukraine and offered to submit to the International Criminal Court’s jurisdiction if Putin did as well.
