Following his death from cancer, Toby Keith broke records by dominating the Billboard country music charts like no artist before.

Keith became the first performer ever to claim nine of the top 10 spots on the Country Digital Song Sales chart simultaneously, representing songs from his entire career spanning 1993 to 2023.

Only a Luke Combs song prevented Keith from sweeping the entire top 10.

He occupied 13 of the top 15 spots, beating out the previous record holders Kenny Rogers and Taylor Swift who each held seven spots.

This unprecedented achievement displayed the enduring popularity and impact of Keith’s extensive catalog from major hits like “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” to his most recent material.

In one of his final interviews, Keith reflected on his incredible 30-year career and being surprised by its enormous success as his music continued resonating widely with fans after his passing.

“Just seeing how enormous the career I amassed over 30 years when they show the video,” Keith said. “You know where you were when you wrote all those songs, you hear those numbers and you’re just like, you looked up one day and all of a sudden 30 years went by.”
