A student at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Nicholas Jordan, was arrested in connection to a shooting incident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals.
The authorities clarified that the incident was isolated and not a random attack on the university.
“On Monday morning, February 19, 2024, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department took a suspect into custody in connection to our investigation into the homicides on Friday, February 16, 2024, on the campus of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS),” the Colorado Springs Police Department wrote on X.
“Investigative efforts continue to indicate this was an isolated incident between individuals who were known to one another and not a random attack against the school or other students at the university,” they added.
The suspect, identified as Jordan, was enrolled at the university at the time of the shooting and has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder.
The victims were identified as Samuel Knopp and Celie Rain Montgomery, both found dead with gunshot wounds to the head.
The investigation is ongoing, focusing on bringing justice to the victims and their families.
