Late night host Stephen Colbert criticized Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over her admitted romantic relationship with a special prosecutor she hired, Nathan Wade, which has threatened the Georgia election interference case against Donald Trump.
Colbert questioned how good the sex must have been to risk democracy by potentially delaying the trial past the 2024 election.
Stephen Colbert said, “Here’s the thing: Yes, Donald Trump and his associates are on trial in this, one of the most important cases in the history of our republic.”
“So, and I’ve just got one follow-up question here: Given that if you’re removed from the prosecution, it could delay this trial until after the election, how good was the sex? Good enough to risk democracy over? Because I’ve never had sex that good.”
“You know what really feels good? Donald Trump going to prison,” Colbert celebrated.
“That, my friends, is what they call the real happy ending,” he continued.
Even progressives have expressed frustration with the Willis-Wade situation jeopardizing the high-profile case.
A former colleague of Willis testified she witnessed their romantic relationship beginning in 2019, two years before Wade’s appointment, contradicting Willis’ claims.
The testimony has raised questions about potential improprieties and undermined Willis’ credibility as the lead prosecutor against Trump.
While ribbing Trump as well, Colbert’s critique highlighted the serious implications if Willis is removed from her position due to the relationship controversy.
