A man in Oroville, California, was arrested for posing as a military officer and using an old photo of his disabled son to deceive people into giving him money.

The man, identified as 72-year-old Bernard Curtis, was found with stolen jewelry and cash.

He would enter businesses dressed in a fake military uniform, claiming to support his son.

Despite discrepancies in his uniform, he managed to convince people to donate money.

Curtis was charged with grand theft and misrepresenting military service for financial gain.

He admitted to similar schemes in other counties along Interstate 5.
