Ukraine’s President Zelensky expressed frustration over delays in promised foreign aid, saying it has made life “very difficult” for Ukrainian fighters and allowed Russia to exploit perceived weaknesses.
While $60 billion in U.S. aid awaits congressional approval, angering Ukrainian officials who want urgent funding, Western allies are also struggling to meet Kyiv’s demands from their own stocks.
Zelensky visited troops who keenly felt shortages of artillery, air defenses and long-range weapons.
“They (the Russians) are taking advantage of delays in aid to Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
Ukraine withdrew from the strategic city of Avdiivka after a fierce four month battle against overwhelming Russian forces.
“We fight and will continue to fight,” Oleksiy Danilov, head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council stated. “We have only one request to our partners: to help with weapons, with ammunition, and with air defense.”
Sweden announced its largest military aid package yet for Ukraine worth $681 million, while Canada will send over 800 drones starting this spring as part of $370 million in pledged support.
