Costco Pulls Deadly Products from Shelves

A listeria outbreak across 11 US states linked to queso fresco and cotija cheeses made by Rizo-López Foods has caused recalls of numerous dairy products from major retailers.

At least 24 illnesses since 2014 and 2 deaths have been reported.

People reported eating queso fresco, cotija or similar cheeses.

A Hawaii sample of Rizo Bros Aged Cotija tested positive for listeria monocytogenes.

Recalled products include cheeses, creams, yogurts, and foods containing them.

Over 100 products from Costco, Walmart, Trader Joe’s have been pulled.

Listeria symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea and can be severe in pregnant or immunocompromised individuals.

Those who purchased recalled items should throw them out and clean surfaces exposed.

Anyone with symptoms after eating recalled products should see a doctor immediately.
