Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen addressed concerns about inflation during an interview with CBS’ Jo Ling Kent, acknowledging that some prices are higher than pre-pandemic levels, causing discomfort for Americans.
However, she emphasized that wages have also increased, indicating that people are better off overall compared to before the pandemic.
Kent asked, “Are you and President Biden happy with where inflation is right now?”
Yellen replied, “Well, look, we know that Americans are experiencing discomfort because some important prices are higher than they were pre-pandemic. But what I think is really important is that wages have gone up, along with prices.”
“So, people are better off than they were pre-pandemic,” claimed Biden’s Treasury Secretary.
