A new poll shows that almost half of voters believe President Biden will not be the Democratic nominee in the 2024 election due to concerns about his age, health, and mental stamina.

The poll was conducted after the release of special counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s handling of classified documents, which described Biden as an elderly man with a poor memory.

“The Hur report doesn’t seem to have shifted public opinion on whether Biden mishandled classified documents. At the same time, it probably has done more to reinforce existing views of Biden’s physical and mental vigor. When we asked a different question about each candidate’s age back in the fall, there was already a wide gap in concern about Biden compared with Trump,” Monmouth University Polling Institute director Patrick Murray said.

“I’ve talked to him for hours on end as recently as a couple of months ago.” He is “as sharp as ever,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal said.

While most voters who think Donald Trump will be replaced cite his ongoing legal troubles, a larger percentage express confidence in Trump’s ability to fulfill presidential responsibilities compared to Biden.

Even before Hur’s report, an eyewitness said she was shocked by Biden’s condition after an interaction at the White House.

The poll reinforces views that Biden’s advanced age makes him less capable of serving another four-year term as questions grow about the effects on his physical and mental vigor.
