Vice President Kamala Harris has been actively engaging with various groups and sources to gather insights and feedback on the Biden campaign’s strategy and messaging.
She aims to use this intelligence to advocate for changes that could improve the campaign’s chances of winning.
Harris has been hosting meetings and discussions with prominent Democrats, receiving both positive feedback and constructive criticism.
“The ‘bedwetting’ complaints are running thin with people,” one meeting attendee said. “The West Wing and the campaign need to be better.”
She is focused on addressing concerns and improving the campaign’s approach, demonstrating a more assertive role for a running mate.
“Folks like seeing the vice president not just playing the role of cheerleader and promoter of the ticket but having deep conversations about how we message and how we win,” Richmond, Virginia mayor Levar Stoney said.
“She is a principal who takes an operative’s level of interest in the details,” a Democrat near to the campaign said.
Harris is particularly emphasizing the importance of engaging Black voters and refining economic messaging to appeal to them, as discussed in her sessions with campaign staff and influential figures from different sectors.
“Vice President Harris knows the stakes of this election and is putting in the work to earn – not ask – for the support of the voters who have the most on the line in this election,” Chavez Rodriguez said.
