Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defended President Biden amid questions about his age and cognition, saying he has been one of the most successful modern presidents by passing major legislation.

When asked about concerns over Biden as the 2024 Democratic nominee given he will be nearly 82, Ocasio-Cortez pointed to Biden’s accomplishments like the Inflation Reduction Act and American Rescue Plan.

She also noted potential GOP nominee Donald Trump is around the same age as Biden.

While dismissing criticism of Biden’s age, Ocasio-Cortez acknowledged he will likely be the Democratic nominee as primary deadlines have passed and voters rejected potential challengers.

Overall, she advocated for Biden’s reelection citing his legislative successes.

“I know who I’m going to choose [for president]: It’s going to be one of the most successful presidents in modern American history,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “[Biden] passed the inflation reduction, that got us the American Rescue Plan, that ensured that we could pass one of the largest federal investments in climate change in U.S. history.”

“It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness,” special counsel Robert Hur’s report stated.

“I think right now, when it comes to the president’s age, folks are talking about how he’s 81,” AOC said. “But we have to look at, first of all, Donald Trump is around the same age. They could have gone to high school together. And beyond that, Donald Trump has 91 indictments.”

“There’s already been a primary [where] voters have outright rejected [Minnesota U.S. Rep.] Dean Phillips,” she said. “President Biden is going to be the Democratic nominee, and, hopefully, he’ll be reelected as president of the United States.”
