President Biden issued a memorandum providing Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for Palestinians in the U.S. for 18 months amid conflict in Israel.
This ensures most Palestinians cannot be deported and directs agencies to loosen work restrictions to allow Palestinians to hold jobs.
“I am directing the deferral of removal of certain Palestinians who are present in the United States,” Biden wrote.
“I have determined that it is in the foreign policy interest of the United States to defer for 18 months the removal of any Palestinian subject to the conditions and exceptions provided below.”
The memorandum was reportedly first pitched by CAIR.
It authorizes DHS to open employment and loosen regulations so Palestinians on student visas can work.
Critics argue Biden’s broader agenda is to inflate the labor market with immigrants to drive down wages, which has added millions of foreign workers while reducing jobs for native-born Americans over the past few years.
A former Democratic congressman called it a plan to lower wages, with data showing nearly all new jobs going to immigrants recently.
