Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing challenges in hostage negotiations with Hamas, as the group demands Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza and an end to the war.
Despite pressure from the Biden administration for a six-week pause in fighting, Hamas insists on its conditions, including the release of Palestinian terrorists and Gaza’s rebuilding at Israel’s expense.
Netanyahu rejects these demands, emphasizing the need for Hamas to change its stance for progress.
The Israeli government is under pressure to reach a deal, but previous agreements with Hamas have been broken.
Netanyahu highlighted the importance of military pressure and tough negotiations in securing the release of hostages.
Netanyahu wrote, “This week we freed two of our hostages in a brilliant military operation. As of now we have freed 112 of our hostages in a combination of strong military pressure and tough negotiations.”
“This is also the key to freeing more of our hostages: Strong military pressure and very tough negotiations,” he continued.
“Indeed, I insist that Hamas drop its delusional demands. When they do so, we will be able to move forward,” concluded the Prime Minister.
