A Florida couple, Tawnya and Devin White, were arrested and charged with negligent child abuse after two young children were found living in deplorable conditions at their home in Alturas.

Tawnya, a DCF employee, was terminated following the investigation.

The home had environmental hazards, overgrown grass, junk debris, moldy furniture, dog feces, and stagnant water.

The children were confined to the master bedroom, with the infant showing developmental delays.

According to an affidavit, “The interior of the home was deplorable – to include moldy furniture, stagnant water, junk debris, and piles of dog feces.”

“The conditions inside the house show a clear lack of proper food, nutrition, clothing, shelter, and supervision that a prudent person would consider essential for the well-being of the children,” wrote the investigators.

Despite being uncooperative, photos revealed unsanitary conditions with high ammonia levels.

The couple failed to clean the house within the given time frame, leading to their arrest.
