Miles Bridges, a player for the Charlotte Hornets, had three criminal charges dropped in a domestic violence case.
The NBA suspended him for 30 games, but ruled that 20 games had been served due to him not playing in the 2022-23 season.
“The NBA conducted its own investigation into this matter, reviewing all available materials and interviewing numerous third-party witnesses, as well as the parties involved,” the NBA stated.
“The NBA also consulted with a group of domestic violence experts who provide the league with guidance in such cases. The 30-game suspension is based on all facts and circumstances of this matter and considers the conduct and its result, as well as the outcome of the criminal matter, among other factors.”
Bridges pleaded no contest and was sentenced to three years probation, counseling, parenting classes, community service, and drug tests.
He is also prohibited from owning firearms and must pay fines.
A protective order prevents him from contacting the mother of his children.
The mother, Mychelle Johnson, posted about the incident on Instagram, detailing injuries and trauma.
Despite this, Bridges continues to play well for the Hornets.
