Former Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi won a special election for a vacant House seat, defeating Republican Mazi Pilip.

The race was crucial, reflecting broader political trends.

Suozzi’s victory narrows the GOP’s majority, with immigration and abortion emerging as key issues.

Pilip said, “I did call my opponent. I congratulated him.”

“We are fighters. Yes, we lost. But it doesn’t mean we’re going to end here,” she continued.

Suozzi celebrated, “Despite all the attacks and despite all the lies about Tom Suozzi and the squad, about Tom Suozzi being the godfather of the migrant crisis, about sanctuary Suozzi, despite the dirty tricks, despite the vaunted Nassau County Republican machine, we won.”

“Who knows what she really stands for? She’s George Santos 2.0. It’s the exact same nontransparent, phony baloney, just trying to get votes instead of saying what you really think,” alleged Suozzi.

Suozzi showed a bipartisan stance on immigration and distanced himself from the Democratic Party.

Pilip recently said, “You know, he is the one who opened the southern border. He voted with Biden 100% of the time. He supported squad members 90% of the time, he is the one who caused the migrant crisis.”

The election also saw a focus on Israel, with both candidates emphasizing their support. Suozzi’s high name recognition and fundraising advantage were crucial in his win.
