Fitness trainer and former “Biggest Loser” coach Jillian Michaels engaged in a heated debate with Bill Maher regarding her decision to leave California, citing Governor Gavin Newsom’s leadership as the reason.

During the discussion, Michaels expressed her discontent with Newsom’s policies, including his handling of crime and homelessness.

“Are you serious? Are we living in Gavin Newsom’s California? Why?” Michaels asked. “I left because of him, moved to Miami. Lived [in California] my whole life.”

“Are you happier in Florida?” Maher asked.

“Yeah,” Michaels said. “It feels less crazy than it does here.”

“Florida is less crazy?” Maher asked. “Really? The place where the people are on bath salts?”

She criticized Newsom’s decisions, particularly his support for a bill allowing “puberty blockers for 12-year-olds,” and recounted a personal experience involving a criminal released during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Michaels recalled being asked, “‘What was the moment when you felt like California had lost its mind?” and sought to remember legislation she felt was unacceptable.

Maher questioned how such legislation could affect her, to which Michaels said, “Is the crime affecting our lives? Is the homelessness affecting our lives?” Maher pushed against crime’s effect on her, to which Michaels noted that her home in California was broken into.

“Guess who let the guy out during Covid, because I got the letter. Newsom!” Michaels said.

“It was the guy’s third offense, he broke into our house, he had duct tape and a video camera. Anyway, long story, third strike, guy goes to jail, gets let out during COVID. I mean give me a f—–g break.”

“You’re going to decriminalize everything, but regulate nothing. You’re prioritizing the craziest s— I’ve ever seen in my life. C’mon, really?”

Maher defended Newsom, leading to a clash of opinions on California’s current state and Newsom’s leadership.

“I can’t stand him,” Michaels said of Newsom, adding that he “does all of these insane things” and condemned a bill that will allow “puberty blockers for 12-year-olds.”
