A former senior Biden official criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for being “ineffective” and not considering the immigration crisis at the border as her responsibility, according to a report from Axios.

Harris and her aides focused on addressing root causes and factors driving immigration from the Northern Triangle countries.

The former official said, “She’s been at best ineffective, and at worst sporadically engaged and not seeing it was her responsibility. It’s an opportunity for her, and she didn’t fill the breach.”

Turmoil within the Biden administration was also highlighted, including clashes between Harris and former Domestic Policy Advisor Susan Rice, as well as reported tensions with Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.

According to Axios, “Rice appeared to others to take pride in being more informed on the border than Harris.”

“Some Harris aides found Rice to be disrespectful toward the vice president and dismissively referred to the former UN ambassador as just a ‘staffer,’” the outlet continued.

President Biden himself expressed frustration and criticized his team’s handling of the crisis.
