Stephen Colbert criticized the special counsel report that cleared President Joe Biden of wrongdoing in the classified documents case but described him as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
Colbert humorously questioned the relevance of this characterization in a report about classified documents.
He also mentioned Democrats’ reaction to the report and the potential impact on the 2024 election, suggesting that the choice may come down to Biden vs. Donald Trump.
“Kinda going off-road in a report about classified documents,” Colbert said. “Your honor, we, the jury, have reached a verdict: We find the defendant not guilty of murder, but he is ugly, and his mother dresses him funny.”
“We fact-checked this last Thursday, and it turns out Joe Biden is old,” he said.
“James Carville chewed off his own leg,” he quipped.
He made a comparison between Biden and Trump, highlighting the challenges voters may face.
“Voters are just gonna have to choose between ‘a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory’ or a contemptible, malicious, elderly rapist with a poor memory,” Colbert said.
