Jan. 6 Arrest: Proud Boy Detained for Alleged Pepper Spraying of Police

FBI agents arrested Aaron Donald Sauer, a member of the far-right Proud Boys extremist group, on charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.

Sauer was identified through his online shopping history and accused of pepper spraying police officers during the siege.

Evidence including witness testimony, photographs, and Sauer’s eBay purchases placed him at the scene.

The arrest is part of the Justice Department’s ongoing efforts to charge individuals involved in the insurrection, with over 1,313 people facing charges, including 469 accused of assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
