Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was attacked by a mob of socialist colectivos during a campaign event.
Machado posted, “More than 100 regime colectivos attacked with sticks and stones and injured numerous attendees.”
“The police present, through their inaction, abetted the armed colectivos,” he continued.

The colectivos, known for their violent tactics, injured attendees and damaged property.
Despite being banned from participating in the presidential election against Nicolás Maduro, Machado continues to campaign.
The Biden administration’s decision to lift sanctions on Venezuela’s state oil company, PDVSA, in exchange for a promised “free and fair” election has drawn criticism.
Vente Venezuela sted, “Once again, they violate the freedom of association.”
“Enough persecution and aggression!” they exclaimed.
“The violent attackers used rock, sticks, pipes, switchblades, and other objects against those walking pacifically in Upata. They attacked María Corina directly,” Vente Venezuela’s statement continued.
Vente Venezuela previously wrote, “While the U.S. government makes concessions to the regime, such as the suspension of some sanctions, there are serious human rights violations in Venezuela, such as the arbitrary detention and forced disappearance of several Venezuelan regional leaders.”
The regime’s recent wave of repression and refusal to fulfill election commitments has heightened tensions.
Machado’s history of facing violence and opposition to the regime has made her a target, with her party denouncing the ongoing persecution and aggression.
This incident is reminiscent of previous attacks she has endured, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the opposition in Venezuela.
